Program Outline

Being female comes with distinct personal and social challenges; the best way to handle them is to equip women and girls with the right tools to succeed. Here, Muay Thai is a medium to build authentic confidence, to turn vulnerability into ability.

At Queens, training is a creative process meant to build both personal and social development.

Here’s how we do it in class:

  • When the body is strong, the mind follows. Authentic confidence comes from knowing what you can do, not what you say about yourself. This is a space where women and girls can forge a healthy relationship with their bodies first; to see and use it as a means to skillfully express and protect themselves. Training is designed to build the necessary physicality to move freely and handle conflict through the following format:

    • WARM-UP (30-45 min): Strength and Conditioning

    • INSTRUCTION (30-45 min): Technical Skills of Muay Thai

  • Unlike most female dominant spaces and hierarchical martial art schools, we believe in a drama-free approach. Our training culture encourages teamwork among classmates, not competition.

  • Across cultures, females are disproportionately vulnerable to violence and abuse. Self-defense requires not just physical ability, but also an understanding of how violence occurs. Contrary to popular belief, violence is proactive, not random; it is the result of psychological and social factors that build up over time. Aside from the physical techniques learned, our program will teach how to understand the social dynamics of conflict, and the non-violent solutions to avoid (and escape) danger.
